Welcome to The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
Our district is dedicated to advancing DEIB and anti-racism within and beyond our school walls. This commitment is a cornerstone of our District’s Strategic Plan, guiding our collective efforts toward creating a more equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist school community. We are driven by actionable goals and objectives that aim to transform our schools into places where employees, students, and their families feel a genuine sense of belonging. Join us in our mission to foster a welcoming and supportive teaching and learning environment for all.
DEIB Mission-Vision Statement
In the Concord and Concord-Carlisle Public Schools, we embrace our diverse community regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, religion, disability— mental or physical, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. We welcome, respect, value, and encourage our employees, students, and families to share their culture with those they work, learn, and interact with to allow a greater sense of belonging and cultural humility for all.
We commit to bolstering equity and justice in our academic and workspaces, an environment where our diverse employees and students have equal access and opportunities to thrive professionally and academically. We will hold ourselves accountable for practical anti-racism actions to serve everyone in our community, especially historically marginalized groups. In the Concord and Concord-Carlisle Public Schools, we will lead by example and show others how to be the change we wish to see in our schools.
Tribal Land Acknowledgment
The Town of Concord is the unceded land of the Nipmuc, Pawtucket, and Massachusett people. Before it was called Concord, this town was known as Musketaquid, meaning “grassy plain” or “place where the waters flow through the grasses.” We express our profound respect to the Nipmuc, Pawtucket, and Massachusett people—past, present, and future—whose histories, cultural practices, and lives are bound to this town. Bias Incident Reporting Form
The Massachusetts Anti-Bullying Law (G.L. c. 71, § 37O) and Student Anti-Discrimination Act (G.L. c. 76, § 5) clarify that schools must act swiftly to address bias and hate incidents, including bullying and harassment. When a school receives notice of an alleged bias or hate incident, it has a legal responsibility to investigate and respond to the incident. If you are a victim, witness, or hear about a bias or hate incident, 1) promptly seek support from a trusted adult such as a teacher, school administrator, or parent/guardian, and 2) formally report the incident using the designated bias incident reporting form provided by your school below. Expect acknowledgment of your bias incident report within one school day from the school Principal or their designee. Click here to learn more about our district's Bias Incident Response Protocol.
