COVID Case Update and Snow Plans

January 31, 2021

Dear Families:

This weekend, we learned of two positive student cases at Alcott.  These students are in the room quarantined on Friday when we suspected school transmission.  We are monitoring closely for any indication of cases outside of these contained rooms.  Simultaneously, we are reviewing the protocols and determining areas for improvement.  Many staff participated in the asymptomatic testing last week with no positive pools found.  I will soon share additional information about the plans to offer testing to students.  This situation at Alcott helps to indicate the benefit of such a testing program.

The forecast has shifted to have heavy snow arrive tomorrow afternoon.  I am actively reviewing the forecast and working with school and town leaders to determine the best plan of action for tomorrow.  I will make decisions tonight so everyone knows what is happening.  As noted, should I close school on Tuesday it will be a traditional snow day.

I will be in touch shortly.  Enjoy the evening.

Best,

Laurie
